Safety Standards

SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES
Pacific Flying School  has a dedicated Safety Officer responsible for   managing and maintaining  detailed and  dynamic Safety Management Systems . Cadets  must not, through their acts or omissions, endanger themselves, their colleagues  or members of the public. This means, for example, that Cadets must ensure they follow the established safety procedures at all times  , that they are not affected by alcohol or drugs whilst training , that they  use equipment provided for Health and Safety purposes, and that they obey reasonable instructions in relation to Health and Safety.

Emergency Response Procedures
In the event of an emergency involving Pacific Flying School , there are key objectives  to meet when planning the most effective response.  First and foremost is the welfare of all affected Flight Crew and Passengers . It is also essential  that you  inform the Accountable Manager and/or  Chief Flying Instructor at P.F.S.  as soon as possible with details so  he / they can ensure established procedures are followed . Secondly, it is necessary that we assist C.A.A.F.I. and other relevant  authorities  with any  investigations and follow-up actions .

Fire
Fire Prevention and Protection Rules are prominently displayed in the P.F.S. Training Centre , Classrooms , Briefing rooms , Offices  , Administration and close to Training Equipment  . All Cadets should make yourselves familiar with these Rules along  with the location of fire alarms, fire fighting equipment and emergency exits. You should also ensure that you know the various types of extinguishers and how and when to use them. If you notice any damaged or inoperative fire equipment, you should report the matter immediately to the Safety Officer or C.F.I..

Flood
In the event of flooding , consolidate stores of food and drinking water , torches and  batteries , AM /FM Radio  , mobile telephone with spare batteries , water proof shoes and boots . Evacuate to high ground. Avoid nonessential  travel .

Dangerous Goods
As per Pacific Flying School policy , all Employees , Cadet Pilots and other stakeholders are  provided with an Introduction to Basic Dangerous Goods ( D.G. ) Handling . There are posters and other relevant information  displayed throughout the P.F.S. centre and other training areas  .
